Mr. Randy Layton, Principal of Oak Hill High School, has announced the honor graduates for the Class of 2023. The valedictorians of this year’s graduating class are Ms. Holly Barger, Mr. Garren Brown, Ms. Abby Donley, Mr. Aiden Hall, Ms. Abigail Hanning, Ms. Jordan Howard, Ms. Paige Hughes, Ms. Kaydee Johnson, Ms. Amelia Michael, Mr. Reagan Michael, and Mr. Rylan Sams. The salutatorian is Ms. Makayla Dearth.

OHHS Seniors graduated at Davis Stadium on Friday, May 19th.

Holly Barger is the daughter of Flint and Jodi Barger. Her school activities are NHS, Science Bowl, Drug Free Club Ambassador, Drama Club, A cappella group, Student Council (secretary), Band Council (president), Choir Council (soprano rep.), Tri-M Council (vice president & historian), Solo and Ensemble, Honors Band and Choir, Marching, Jazz, and Pep Band, and Choir. She also takes Harvard student agency classes, has kept book for baseball games, tutored Math and English, worked rec league concessions, and has run basketball clock. Ms. Barger plans to graduate from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree. Holly believes her goal will set herself up to grow into a well-rounded and successful person.

 

 

Photo of Garren BrownGarren Brown is the son of Stephen and Tonya Brown. His school activities are National Honor Society, Marching Band, Concert Choir and Drama Club. Mr. Brown’s college plans are to attend The Ohio State University and receive a bachelor’s degree in theater. After college, Garren would like to move to Los Angeles or New York and pursue a career in film acting.

Abby Donley is the daughter of Josh and Lorrie Donley. Her school activities are National Honor Society, College Credit Plus student, Varsity Cheerleader, and Drug Free Clubs of America. She was also the 2022 Apple Festival Queen. Ms. Donley will attend Ohio University to major in business.

 

 

Photo of Aidan HallAidan Hall is the son of Rick and Susan Hall. His school activities are Varsity Basketball, Varsity Football, Varsity Baseball, Business Professionals of America, National Honor Society, and Drug Free Clubs of America. He is also a deacon at Jackson Christian Church and a lifeguard at Margaret Ann Pool and Park. Mr. Hall will be attending the Florida Institute of Technology to pursue a career in aviation and a degree in Aeronautical Science with Flight.

Abigail Hanning is the daughter of Scott and Dayleen Hanning. Her school activities are Varsity Cheerleader, College Credit Plus student, National Honor Society (secretary), Business Professionals of America, and Drug Free Clubs of America. Abigail is a waitress at Kali’s. Ms. Hanning will be attending Ohio University and majoring in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. Abigail plans on getting her master’s degree in school psychology.

Jordan Howard is the daughter of Tim and Josie Howard. Her school activities are Drug Free Clubs of America, Student Council, Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Softball, Varsity Track and Field, Varsity Cheerleading, and National Honor Society. Jordan is a member of Elevate Ministries. Ms. Howard plans to attend The Ohio State University to major in speech pathology.

Paige Hughes is the daughter of Randy and Erin Hughes. Her school activities are National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, and Drug Free Clubs of America. She is also a member of Monroe Chapel Church and youth group, works at Liza Jane’s Diary Bar, and does 4-H showing market lambs at Jackson County Fair. Ms. Hughes plans to attend Shawnee State University to obtain her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Kaydee Johnson is the daughter of Larry and Meela Johnson. Her school activities are National Honor Society, FFA, Band, Drug Free Clubs of America, and Student Council. Kaydee is also a waitress at Kali’s. Ms. Johnson plans to attend college in North Carolina to major in education.

Amelia Michael is the daughter of Adam and Susie Michael. Her school activities are Marching Band, Concert Band, Honors Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Solo and Ensemble, National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Drug Free Clubs of America. Ms. Michael plans to attend Wright State University and major in pre-med to work toward becoming an Occupational Therapist. She would like to open her own practice one day to help kids with sensory processing disorders, such as ADHD and Autism.

 

 

Photo of Reagan MichaelReagan Michael is the son of Aaron and Andrea Michael. His school activities are Varsity Basketball, Varsity Track, Varsity Cross Country, National Honor Society (president), Drug Free Clubs of America (vice president), Quiz Bowl Team, and Student Council. Mr. Michael’s plans are to attend Ohio University majoring in nutrition. Ultimately, he would like to become a dermatologist.

Rylan Sams is the son of Robert Sams and Angela Jewell. His school activities are Cross Country, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Baseball, and National Honor Society. Rylan also plays baseball in the summer for Canes Ohio Organization. Mr. Sams’ future plans are to attend Ohio University to further his education and major in healthcare administration.

 

 

Photo of Makayla DearthMakayla Dearth is the daughter of Christopher Dearth and Sarah Carmon. Her school activities are Marching Band, Choir, Drama Club, Tri-M Honor Society, Cross Country, Varsity Track, Drug Free Clubs of America, and College Credit Plus student. Makayla is a member of The Old Country Church. Ms. Dearth plans on going to Kent State University for her BSN degree. She would like to be a traveling nurse.
