175 Miles Walked!

a sturgill175 mar19Congratulations to 5th grader Ashton Sturgill for achieving 175 miles walked in the OHES Walking Oaks Club, which is sponsored by the Jackson County Health Department, Holzer Health Systems, and Atomic Employees Credit Union. Ashton earned a McDonald's gift card for his efforts. Ashton is aiming to beat his record of 250 miles walked last school year.     March 2019

Fifth grader Ashton Sturgill (L) has achieved 125 miles walked and earned a Fuel Up to Play 60 bag. Third grader Bentley Hamilton (R) achieved 50 miles walked and earned a water bottle. 2019 Souper Bowl Food Drive

souper8 2019The 2019 OHES Souper Bowl Food Drive for the Growing Oaks Food Program and the Oak Hill Food Pantry was conducted, and the students and staff collected 3,020 food items for donation. The winning class with the largest donation was Philip Malone's 5th grade class, and they won a donut party for their efforts.

Active Acorns & OAKS Meet

aa oct18 2Boats West (far left), an AEMT from the Jackson County EMS, visited the Active Acorns and OAKS Afterschool students. He discussed principles from the “Stop the Bleed” program, as well as other first aid tips for students. The students really enjoyed his presentation and asked many questions.     October 2018
