The OAKS program is a before and after school program for Oak Hill Elementary students in grades Kindergarten through Grade Five. This program is made possible by a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant in cooperation with the Gallia Vinton Educational Service Center and the Oak Hill Union Local Schools.

The morning program begins at 6:40 am and provides opportunities for students to study and work on skills with two certified teachers. The after school program begins immediately after the dismissal bell (3:26 pm) and runs until 5:10 pm. Students are provided a healthy snack before beginning their homework. After homework is completed, students participate in an enrichment period with different activities every week. Some of the activities include, animals, art, board games, building, creative writing, dance, drama, fitness, history, music, reading, science, social studies and Veteran’s Day. Character Education and the Sunshine Club (community service) are offered every session.

The grant also provides opportunities for families to participate in Family Fun Nights and Parent Academies. Some of the events that have been held are Game Night (Minute to Win It, Family Feud and Bingo), Reading Academy, Fitness Night (Yoga, Zumba, and video), Internet Safety with Sgt. Hughes, Veteran’s Day program, and Character Counts.
