Choir Ladies Recognized
About Oak Hill Choir
The choir program at Oak Hill Middle/High School consists of students in grades 6-12. This program does not require an audition process and is open to all students in middle and high school. Currently there are two choirs at Oak Hill Middle/High School: Middle School Choir and High School Concert Choir. Middle School Choir is comprised of students in grades 6 through 8 and High School Concert Choir consists of grades 9 through 12.
The choral programs in Oak Hill cultivates general musicality and specific musicality. Daily, these groups spend time on sight reading, building aural skills, performance etiquette, intonation, expression, harmony, and singing with proper posture, diction, mechanics, and breathing. Students are immersed in different styles and genres of music and learn to work together cooperatively and productively in the ensemble, contributing to the positive atmosphere of the choir.
High School Concert Choir
High School Concert Choir is the main vocal ensemble of the High School Vocal Music Program. Concert Choir is a non-auditioned, mixed-voice choir comprised of 40 students in grades 9-12. This Concert Choir sings at all major concerts, as well as various school and community events.
Middle School Choir
The Oak Hill Middle School Choir is comprised of 60 students and meets daily. This is a combination of grades 6, 7, and 8 in one ensemble. This ensemble works to develop a strong foundation in choral skills including tone production, sight-singing, and basic music literacy and theory skills. Middle School Choir is open to any interested student at OHMS. This choir performs at all major concerts.
Meet the Director
Mrs Brittany Koogle is the Oak Hill Middle and High School Choral Director, Assistant Band Director, and Drama Instructor. Mrs Koogle was born and raised in Oak Hill, is a graduate of Oak Hill High School and Berea College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education.
While being a part of ensembles at Berea, Mrs Koogle had many opportunities to perform at various venues across the country as well as internationally in Spain and Portugal. Mrs Koogle is excited to implement in the years to come more vocal music programs for the students at her alma mater.
