OHHS Class of 1973 Celebrates 50th Reunion - Members of the Class of 1973 celebrated their 50th class reunion on May 19th & 20th 2023.
Activities kicked off on Friday evening with a social hour at the Presbyterian Church in Oak Hill. The group spent time catching up with old friends and for refreshments they enjoyed a variety of charcuterie boards. They gathered for a group photo and then were bussed to Oak Hill High School for the graduation ceremonies. The class had reserved seating behind the Class of 2023 and during the ceremony each member of the class stood and was recognized. There were 22 classmates and 7 guests attending the celebration.
Activities continued on Saturday, May 20th at The Liberty Theatre in Oak Hill for their reunion. There were 40 classmates and 14 guests attending. Classmates wore nametags sporting their senior picture. Each person received a beautiful mug with OHHS and the date engraved on them. The prayer was offered by Pastor Tim Jayne and the group enjoyed a meal of smoked meats, a variety of side dishes, mini cheesecake bites, and several flavors of cupcakes. Tables were decorated with white tablecloths, black table runners and vases with red carnations, which was the class flower. A memorial poster with pictures of the 27 classmates that had passed was displayed. They are gone but never forgotten. Also, 1973 yearbooks, posters and a notebook with obituaries and various historical articles from the years since graduation were available for class members to peruse at their leisure. There were copies of the 1973 OHHS Senior Edition Newspaper made for each classmate. They brought back many good memories and laughs. Tickets were sold for split the pot and the winning ticket was purchased by Darrell Boggs. Darrell graciously donated the money back to the class for their flower fund. Many photos were taken during the course of the weekend and a group photo was also taken at the reunion. Special thanks to Jesse Coe for helping set up and clean up the event. Kudos to the planning committee, Darrell & Marilyn Boggs, Donna Fienup Coe, Thelma Clagg Jenkins, Peggy Myers Devers, Carolyn Burchett Murphy and Susan Shaner Morgan for the many hours of planning and executing all the details, running errands, ordering supplies, cleaning, setting up and tearing down the venues and most of all, taking time out of their busy schedules to be a part of making the Class of 1973 50th reunion such a great success!
