Rugby at OHES
Oak Hill Elementary learned about the history and heritage of this community. Oak Hill, originally named Portland, was a
Welsh community of immigrants settled in 1818. As part of their lessons, the fourth and fifth grades had a presentation on Rugby and its history. They discussed the similarities and differences between Rugby and American Football. Oak Hill Elementary would like to thank the presenters, Lisa Jones, Lauren Holmes, Lynwen Harris, Neil Harries and Lowri Jôs. Four of the presenters are from Wales and one from England.
Parents had the opportunity to listen to Welsh songs, sample Welsh fried cakes, and see Welsh inspired art work during the Parent Teacher conferences on April 19, 2012.
