Rio Visitation
On November 17, 2011 three Information Technology students traveled to the University of Rio Grande to compete at the 6th annual Rio School of Business Visitation Day. Kyla Angel, Nick Potter, and Tony Gilmerr represented Oak Hill High School.
The day’s events were loosely based on the television show “The Apprentice.” At the beginning of the day, student teams were asked to create promotional materials or presentations which explains why their high schools are the best in southeastern Ohio. The students were able to use the Rio labs to create pamphlets, PowerPoint presentations, fliers, or even websites which highlight their schools’ accomplishments (i.e., bands, sports teams, scholastic awards, outstanding faculty, test scores, etc.). Later in the day, students presented their materials to small groups of judges who rated students on predetermined criteria.
Kyla, Nick, and Tony placed fifth among teams from all over southeastern Ohio. There were over 45 teams representing Jackson, Gallia, Vinton, Scioto, and Lawrence counties.
