Family and Consumer Science students enrolled in Manage Transitions discussed values and resources that support lifestyle goals, effective use of time, stress management, and personal finance issues. They concluded the semester by developing their hand sewing skills. Many of the students have never sewn before and welcomed the new challenge. The project of choice was a simple fleece hat. Pattern layout, pinning, cutting and stitching skills were used. Whether the toboggans were given to a friend or are being worn, the kids were proud to complete their first project. These same students completed many of the recycled sweater dog beds that were donated to the pound.

With the chilly weather, the Jackson County Dog Pound put the warm beds right to work for their four legged clients. If you are considering donating sweaters for the project, not to worry. Additional sweaters received will be remade into beds and delivered. Contact Judy Hamilton if you have questions or would like directions to make your own pet bed.

Oak Hill Business Professionals of America (BPA) collected donations for Secret Santa. Students began by selling “Donation Tags” where donors placed their name on cards displayed in the cafeteria. Then members were inspired to sell pictures with Santa, Buddy Elf, and Frosty the Snowman. Santa pictures were a hit with students and staff.
The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) supported the Secret Santa efforts by collecting toy donations. All gifts have been delivered to Secret Santa headquarters ready for a timely Christmas delivery.
Tammy Roush and Judy Hamilton, advisors for the organizations, would like to thank everyone for their support of BPA and FCCLA service projects.
